Media Research Center

My friend, Ray, came to me today in serious frustration .... angry at Obama ... we started talking specifically about healthcare and Ray expressed his irritation about all the conflicting stories out there. He didn't know what to believe. (I can't blame him ... 9 of every 10 talk-radio programs is populated by the likes of Limbaugh. It's HARD to find the truth!)

In our conversation I suggested that he try to avoid listening to the "fear talk" and pay more attention to the facts, to documentation; much of which is HARD to find because our media ... rather than being stooges of the "Left" as the Media Research Center insists ... is, with only a few comparatively minor exceptions, tools of major corporations. (And, hence, the "Right". See the posting at http://www.2knownow.blogspot.com/ regarding the word Fascist.)

I will pass on to Ray what I am telling you now: CHECK your facts ... don't believe what you hear (Especially if it comes from ANYthing FOX, even the Wall Street Journal. Do you know why? Because Rupert Murdock owns both.).

If you hear any criticism of supposed "Liberal" "Socialist" "Obama" healthcare reform and an organization called the Media Research Center is the source of that information remember this: MRC was founded by L. Brent Bozell III, Chairman of the National Conservative Political Action Committee.

Does that little fact have any impact on MRC's objectivity?

If you are not sure, how about this: Media Matters for America (MMA) contends that MRC views the media "through a funhouse mirror that renders everything--even the facts themselves--as manifestations of insidious bias".

(MMA was founded by a former CONSERVATIVE writer, David Brock. Check that out too! Just "Do a Google". You'll find that Mr. Brock wrote a fascinating book called "Blinded by the Right" ... A book title that describes virtually my entire adult life .... 'till now.)

The same dose of skepticism should be added to ANY assertions made by the Lewin Group (See see the posting at http://2KnowNow-Consumer.blogspot.com under that same name.)

Who is 2009's Most Trusted Newscaster in America?

With the passing of Walter Cronkite, TIME magazine did a poll to see which newscaster in America is trusted the most.

Here are the results: http://www.timepolls.com/hppolls/archive/poll_results_417.html

What does it say when the winner of the poll vociferously denounces himself AS a newscaster but, rather, as a comedian?

Run your cursor over each state...you will see that the winner ... even in the states where he wasn't the outright winner ... came in 2nd to the person who did.

Me? My view?

I would vote the same. Wit, insight, honesty in awesome supply ... every day ... OH, and the truth too!

Walter Cronkite

In case you didn't know him or, for others who have forgotten, Walter Cronkite personified what honest journalism was really all about: TELLING THE TRUTH ... without grandstanding or spin.

A reminder; LISTEN to what he believed about our role in Vietnam originally was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDNJL0mTHWI
